Scavenger Hunt is my first illustrated book! Its about a little girl called Lajjo and her family who are caught in a flood. While waiting for help to arrive, Lajjo’s grandfather sets her on a scavenger hunt in order to solve a puzzle.

This book is a Level 4 book, which means that the reading ability of the target audience is fairly advanced. Therefore, our goal for the illustrations was to be fun and engaging, as well as descriptive so they act as visual cues to the text. The concept we are trying to explain in this book filtration and creating clean water.

After my art director Nafisa Nandini Crishna shared the script with me, I conceptualised the characters in various poses and with different expressions with each having their own specific colour palettes.

I sketched my visualisations over in small thumbnails  and  made a storyboard arranged in order with the story flow.

Once those rough sketches were approved by the team at Pratham Books, I moved over to line art and colouring them.
